Yup, I failed. No flats, no mechanicals, no major crashes, no illnesses, I just failed. I let life get in the way of my goals and I paid for it between the tape. Podium dreams turned to pack fodder. So there it is. I failed. I am a competitive b*tch and this just won’t cut it.

On the bright side, it turns out I am a natural at plucking dollar bills out of the tops of empty beer bottles and would regularly cross the finish line with three or four bills tucked in my sports bra. This definitely helped satisfy my inner child’s need for outside approval, and reminded me that acrobatics can be just as crowd pleasing as winning. So, what have I learned from this?

1. I must learn to take time for me and my goals as a cyclist.
2. Cross fans are the best fans in the world, they cheer just as loud for first
as they do for last.
3. I must learn to bunny hop the barriers.
4. Dollar bills taste like poop.
